Bolgheri and coastal wines

Break away to the Tuscan coast and indulge in the wide range of Tuscan wines. Every serious wine buff knows the name of Bolgheri, largely due to the fact that it is where the first of the internationally famous ‘Super Tuscans’, Sassicaia, was produced. A bijou town approached via a spectacular avenue of cypress trees, it is dominated by a storybook-style castle.

The area of Bolgheri is characterised by extensive vineyard and olive tree cultivations. Castagneto Carducci, a lovely medieval hamlet, is the largest town in the area. The wine region has gained the DOC appellation in 1995.
