Small and intimate tour
What an extraordinary visit we had to this small vineyard in Lucca! Our guide, Rafaelle, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He picked us up in his black Mercedes van and drove us completely around the walled city giving us interesting facts before heading to the vineyard. It’s a beautiful setting on a hill and the view is incredible. At the vineyard we were given a tour by he and a girl who works there which was fun and interesting. Afterwards, we sat within the vineyard and sipped several of their wines and were treated to a delicious assortment of cheese, bread, meats, and fresh tomatoes! A beautiful evening in Tuscany with a super friendly guide who is very passionate about wine! On your first day in a foreign country with limited travel experience, it certainly puts you at ease when your transport driver shows up exactly on time as Tommaso did. Once we were introduced and settled, I explained to Tommaso that I had documentation of my two maternal grandparents being from Ponte Buggianese and 40-50 year old contact information from when my parents made their one visit from the US. With these limited details and two pictures to work with, Tommaso calmly and deftly began to formulate a best plan to see if we could reconnect with any of my family this day. By lunch, we had found and conversed with two at two different locations: a 98 year old cousin of my grandmother who was one of the unnamed figures in one of the pictures and his grandson (whose mother and grandmother were the other two people in the picture). Tommaso asked the grandson for a lunch recommendation nearby in Ponte Buggianese which turned out to be a rural, local place that was full of business folks. It was great! Tomasso made phenomenal use of our time fitting in a quick visit to Lucca on the way to Ponte Buggianese and having us at our Florence destination at our requested time. The Best Wine Tour in Tuscany!
We loved our wine tour with Tommaso! The pickup and drop off was so easy and Tommaso was the best tour guide, sharing the history of Lucca and the Tuscany region with us. The personal relationships Tommaso has with the managers of the wineries allowed us to learn so much about the wine, wineries histories and the wine-making process. Overall, we feel so lucky to have had Tommaso as our guide and had the most incredible experience in Lucca with him. Would absolutely recommend! If I could give this company a 10 out of 5, I would. They are truly phenomenal. My husband & I just got back from a 3 week trip to Tuscany. We are wine lovers, so did a lot of research on private wine tours for our large (& weekly changing) group. I contacted a lot of companies & ultimately chose these guys, as Tommaso's emails stood out from the crowd with his response time, suggestions, pricing & overall demeanor. BEST decision of the whole trip, bar none! The company is basically run by two wonderful young men. Tommaso worked for a larger tour group, but decided to branch out on his own to offer a more authentic experience, showcasing lesser known, more unique wineries than usually on offer. He pulled Raffaele on board, as his tour guide extraordinaire(!) & together they provide personalized, unique experiences that exceeded our expectations week after week. Over the 3 weeks we visited 6 wineries in the Chianti, Montalcino & Bolgheri regions. Each one was different in their own way, all were superb. Lunches were organized to reflect what we wanted each week (a quick bite or full sit down meal) & all were fabulous. Tommaso & Raffaele listened to what we wanted, suggested best options & delivered 3 amazing (& very long) days that each of our groups rated the #1 experience of their week. These fabulous guys do more than just wine tours. They can help with whatever you want to do & they do it in a way that makes them feel like family by the end of the trip. Book them. Fun and instructional tour through beautiful Lucca
Thomas guided us to two boutique local wineries, one traditional and one modern, sharing local history during our drive through the beautiful countryside. Both hosts, Francesca at Tenuta Mareli and Francisco at Cantina Biagotti were warm, hospitable, and knowledgeable. The wine and refreshments (local honey, cheese, charcuterie, breads) were yummy! Absolutely Recommend this Fun, Relaxed, History Filled Wine Tour!
My sister and I did this wine tour and our tour guide Raffaele was awesome! We were the only two on the excursion that day so it was very relaxed. We learned some history of Lucca and drove the city walls, then we went to two beautiful wineries and had excellent wine and food! A Great Experience!
Raffaele was a wonderful tour guide full of energy and facts about Lucca and the wine of the region. He was very patient with the young children in the group and made sure we all had a tranquil experience enjoying the wine and food of the two wineries, which were exquisite. Abbiamo trascorso una giornata stupenda in compagnia di Tommaso, grazie alla sua esperienza sul territorio lucchese abbiamo scoperto storia e autentica tradizione del luogo, passando poi da 2 piccole cantine, fuori da soliti circuiti "mainstream" del vino abbiamo avuto un esperienza esclusiva a tu per tu con i proprietari e le loro vigne.

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip! Our guide, Raffaele, was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Lucca, as well as the wineries! He was happy to allow us to take time to explore the vineyards and relax, and the tastings that were arranged were a lot of fun. He even shared some great recommendations for restaurants and bars in Lucca (as a local, he knew his stuff).

I loved my experience! The tour guide (Raffaele Ciampaglia) was very knowledgeable about wine production & the techniques of wine tasting, but he was also personable and charming, which made for a memorable visit. The wine was delicious, and I may have become more of a red wine drinker because of it! Also, the staff were kind and helpful throughout the whole experience. I would definitely recommend using this tour service while visiting Lucca. You won’t regret it! Raffaele was an absolute pleasure to have as our Tour guide for the day. We had an amazing time, driving around Lucca, learning about its history, drinking amazing wines, and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Highly recommend to all. One person in our party was vegetarian, another was lactose free. They both had a great experience with the meals.
